Montreal Happenings, Part Three: Olympic Park

Olympic Park was built when Montreal hosted the Olympics in the 80s.  Now, the area consists of the Biodome, a combination of natural habitats for animals, an insectarium (we skipped that), and botanical gardens with a butterfly sanctuary.  The Biodome and botanical gardens, although quite warm in most places, were an amazing experience.

We saw all sorts of rare animals, like the little orange guy below.  He's a Golden Lion Tamarin.  He's an endangered species, with only about 1500 left in the wild and 490 in captivity.

We had a special affection for the American beaver.  He was a cutie.

The rest of the pictures are from the botanical gardens, moth room, and butterfly sanctuary.

Tiny Pineapple.  About 8 inches tall.

This Chinese Elm is 90 years old and only about two and half feet tall.

This butterfly was a special little friend of Daddy's for about ten minutes.  She wouldn't leave him.

Hub and me in the butterfly sanctuary

I don't know what kind of flower this is, but it looked like plastic.

P.S.  This is day nine of my twenty-one day blogging adventure.  So far, so good.  Then again, it is only day nine. . . .
